This time around, the winner will walk away with a whopping P100, 000 cash, together with other prizes.  Miss Botswana was last held in 2013 when Rosemary Keofhitlhetse was crowned the queen. The Miss Botswana media director, Tshepo Maphanyane said this year the pageant has changed a number of elements. She assured that there would not be any challenges in terms of handing over the prize money to the winner as it happened in the past.

Miss Botswana licence holders, Botswana Council of Women (BCW), will take charge of the pageant.

The pageant has over five sponsors, who have all pumped money and other packages towards the beauty contest. Leading the crop is Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, which is leading the sponsorship pack and will award the winners with scholarships to a tune of four million Pula.

The media director brushed off apprehension that the historically problem-ridden pageant might face challenges this year more so that it was being organised in a short space of time.  Maphanyane reassured that everything would run smoothly and according to plan.

“Forget about what happened in the past. Let us take a moment to celebrate the now. The past has taught us important lessons, but it is time to move on,” she said.

Maphanyane explained that due to the short time left, the auditions and boot camps for the pageant would be done within a space of two months.  The glitzy finale event will be held on September 29, 2015.

The Francistown auditions were held this past weekend at Adansonia Hotel.  The second installment of the auditions will be in Gaborone on Saturday and Sunday.

The required age for participants is 18-25 years and they should be 1, 67 metres tall and above. The registration fee is P 300.

Maphanyane said further details on the pageant would be communicated in due time.
