The Monitor learnt about this new policy in Leshibitse recently where Kgatleng District Council authorities, led by the District Commissioner Wame Samapipi and council chair Mpho Morolong, told the residents of the new powers of the VDC’s which would include recommending the dismissal of a public officer who they deem not performing.

Samapipi says the Kgatleng District Council has identified nine Ministries in their region where the CBM will be applied with effect from next month, September.

According to the district commissioner the VDC’s will be given monitoring forms to fill and send to the District Commissioner’s office, every three months, informing government about the service levels of public officers in their areas. The District Commissioner added that should the CBM reports indicate that the public officers are not performing, it might result in the dismissal of such public employees.
