Sunday BOPEU Publicity man Emmanuel Tlale said they had uncovered that the workers were being enticed with overtime so that they could work on weekends to cover for backlog.

Tlale says they have also uncovered propaganda by the employer whereby the workers at various stations are told lies just to get them out of the strike; ‘‘The employer is now calling our members in various stations telling them that they should get back to work since everyone else is at work; we want to warn the employer to desist from those tendencies because the rules of the strike says the employer cannot entice the workers before 14 days,” warned Tlale.

Tlale also said it was illegal for the employer to write the workers a letter on Friday enticing them to get to work. Tlale says another letter was written yet again, in an effort to confuse the workers to abandon the strike. “ People are being told that if they quit the strike they will be considered first for promotions; we are aware that the strike has started to impact negatively on the employer and the economy after just two days, it is up to the BURS to come to the table with BOPEU, rather than intimidate the workers,’’ Tlale added.
