ATI on memory lane with Cassette

ATI

ATI

Cassette is ATI’s second single from his upcoming sophomore album Envelope that is set for release this year. The track was released last week and it premiered on a number of radio stations.

Even though it is not a sample like most current tracks, the song has a touch and feel of the olden days. The beat produced by Lif Aman has the feel good summer sound and the lyrics reminds one of the olden days lifestyle.

In the track ATI talks about the olden lifestyle of using VCRs, cassettes, letters sent while wrapped in envelope, vintage movies including old school music lyrics.

Some of the lyrics go like, Nako tsa Guys n girls/dangari tsa Cash Bazaar/Barnet’s gone dah/Digitale seyo dah/
Just gimmie a sign/ m ready go
Ke tsenya Kitchene/ ke tima lebone/
2000,96 all the way to 94/
Rene renale VCR ya Phillipse/
Kene kele Jackie chane/ Kagiso ele Bruce Lee. Cassette has a jovial mood; the track can be played at different occasions such parties, chill session and parking lot pimping sessions.

However the sound is way too different from the well-known ATI sound. This time around the young rapper came with a totally new sound and lyrics that his fans are not used to. Prior to the release of the track, he said the song would be different from his ordinary sound that he is well known for, as he was venturing into something new and different. Before the release of the track he released a cover of Foxxy Brown’s Get me home.

Upon releasing the song, ATI’s camp issued a strong warning towards piracy stating that action will be taken to anyone caught pirating the track.  “I have given everybody my music for free for all my musical journey. True supporters will buy. Stop piracy,” commented ATI. Cassette is available on iTunes for downloads. He is currently in the studio working with a number of musicians and producers such as Favi, Spryt, Lif Aman and RRisq on his sophomore album Envelope, which he said would be released this year.

The rappers was recently involved in a brawl with graffiti designer KhweziDidIt after the two parties did not agree on payments over portraits that the designer was working on.
