Tapiwa Machola from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) presented this in a case in which Siamisang Bolelang, 25, is charged for allegedly killing Kelebogile Gobotswamang and Ntlogelang Dikeledi at Makgaolang cattlepost in the Central District on March 13, 2012.

Bolelang also allegedly caused bodily harm to Omphithetse Dikeledi on the same day.

The accused told Principal Magistrate Dumisani Basupi that he had nothing to say concerning his committal to the high court for trial.   Basupi ruled that Bolelang be remanded in custody.

“The law states that the accused’s bail should be cancelled if his committal documents are ready. If he so wishes, he can apply for another bail before the high court,” he said.

Meanwhile, another herdboy was briefly arraigned in court for a single count of murder.

The state alleges that Boikhutso Molao, 28, killed his cousin Kenewang Opelo at Lepashe cattlepost on July 12, 2015.

Public prosecutor Keobonye Matsapa also applied for the accused to be remanded in custody because investigations into the matter are still at their initial stages.

“We have not recorded statements from potential witnesses. We apply for the accused to be remanded in custody because he may interfere with our investigations. His relatives are also still angered by what happened and may harm him if he is granted bail now,” he said.

Basupi denied the accused bail as per the state’s application. He said the matter happened a few days ago and it would be prudent if Molao were kept in custody to allow police investigations to continue unhindered, and for his safety as some relatives are still incensed.

Molao will appear in court for mention on July 28, 2015.
