Mmolotsi had asked the deputy Speaker, Kagiso Molatlhegi about the status of Molale noting that the minister and specially elected MP has been absent from Parliament.

“Is he on leave? Is he still a Member of Parliament?” wondered Mmolotsi.

He further stated that although the minister does not come to the House, he was busy campaigning at the Goodhope/Mabule constituency.

He said the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) has issued a writ of its internal primary elections scheduled for this Saturday.  “He has applied to be one of the BDP candidates for the primary elections. He is campaigning and addressing kgotla meetings using government vehicles accompanied by civil servants.  We have seen him on Btv,” said Mmolotsi.

In response Molatlhegi said he would investigate the issue. “I don’t know where he is. I will ask the leader of the house [vice president Mokgweetsi Masisi] to divulge his whereabouts,” responded Molatlhegi.  This response did not please the Minister of Justice, Defence and Security Shaw Kgathi who accused Molatlhegi of setting a bad precedence.  “You cannot allow MPs to ask you questions. If we ask you where Honourable Tawana Moremi has been, will you be in a position to answer that question?” said Kgathi.
