Brawl turns ugly as spade-wielding son kills father

Eyewitnesses alleged that the son, Shima Letsholo aged 55-years, acted in self-defence after his father charged at him with the spade.

They alleged that at the onset of the scuffle, the father, Sete Letsholo hit the son with the spade, but the latter wrestled the spade from his father and hit him (the father) on the forehead and stomach, killing him instantly.

The fight is alleged to have erupted after a discussion on cattle branding took a nasty turn.

Shima, who is currently in police custody, is expected to appear before the Broadhurst Magistrate Court today.
