EBPP is the process of delivering a bill from an originator, the biller, to the receiver, usually the customer. The payment of such a bill would be done through electronic means.

Speaking at the launch, the BotswanaPost Acting Chief Executive, Setshedi Botlhole-Mmopi said business-to-business partnership portfolio has grown considerably, which saw the Poso reinvent itself and leap into the services sector and rebrand to what it is now.

According to Botlhole-Mmopi, this has led to the birth of EBPP, amongst the many services and solutions they are now offering.

“PosoOnline will improve customer service dramatically and build customer loyalty while providing cost savings and revenue enhancement opportunities.

“It also provides individuals and companies to view and pay bills through electronic channels,” she said.

Botlhole-Mmopi added that customers enrolled on PosoOnline will have the opportunity to view their monthly bills or any other communication provided by the biller.

She added that customers’ bills are archived for future accessibility to both the customer and biller.

“I wish to implore businesses in the service sector and everyone to take advantage of this new development and I can guarantee that issues of customer queries will be drastically reduced,” she added

One of the first customers of this e-billing solution is Orange Botswana. The Public Relations Officer of the mobile phone company, Boga Chillinde-Masebu said this is one of their cutting edge innovation to make lives easier for their customers.

“This platform offers an electronic billing facility for Orange postpaid customers, giving them access to their account information at their fingertips. “We have partnered with BotswanaPost to bring convenience to our postpaid customers through the PosoOnline service. Chillinde-Masebu added that through this partnership, their customers would be able to track their monthly statements as well as pay their online bills anytime and  anywhere.

PosoOnline initiative is a joint effort between BotswanaPost and Interfile. Interfile ensures that customers’ personal details are protected, thus ensuring online security. Interfile has existed for the past 12 years, providing this kind of business solution to the South African market.

“Through a successful implementation with South African Revenue Services (SARS), Interfile is now recognised as one of the most efficient revenue collectors in the world,” said Interfile Chief Information Officer, Christopher Bellford. He assured that PosoOnline has been subject to rigorous penetration testing and friendly hacking and it complies with protection of personal information and electronic communication regulation.
