Gantsi has potential for tourism investment

Speaking at the opening of the Gantsi Show, which was held over the weekend, Diseko said such an approach is of paramount importance, adding that this applies to the use of sustainable agricultural resources, which include among others, rangelands, crop fields, soils, and cattle breeds. The Gantsi Show was held under the theme, Practicing Smart Agriculture to Combat Effects of Climate Change. Diseko also said the Gantsi District has the potential to boost tourism because of its natural resources and landscape features.
He said landscape features such as national parks, game reserves, veld products like morama, moretlwa, motsotsojane and mahupu as well as small game and the unique vegetation found in the area, can be exploited to the fullest to benefit tourist operators.
Diseko further said there is also a huge potential for development of tourism enterprises that focus on the culture and heritage of the district through cultural festivals like the popular Kuru Festival. He said BTO has pledged their full support to the district to revive the cultural festival and make it grow to international standards.
Diseko also said they have made strategic decisions to diversify the tourism product offerings by creating and supporting sport and adventure events. We have been working with the Gantsi Show committee to develop the Horse Race. We sponsored all the activities related to the race this year, he said.
Diseko added that they have been fully engaged in the marketing, promotions and branding of the race, providing the prize money, as well as upgrading of the racetrack and VIP public sitting areas.
