The 2015 edition will headline popular acts such as South Africa’s Ringo Madlingozi, Selaola Selota, as well as locals Soccer Moruakgomo and Kearoma Rantao.
For added variety the organisers have also included Oskido and legendary kwaito group Trompies, from South Africa. DJs Sid, Milton and Sala will complement them on the decks.
Event promoter Vince Mosimanekgang said the event was restructured following its successful first edition in 2013, and will now be held annually.
“This Jazz Festival began in 2013 but at the time, it was just a pilot project.
The event, however, proved very successful at the time. Following its success, we planned to restructure; to see how it could best benefit Batswana and that took a bit of time, hence last year we were unable to bring the show,” he said.
From this year’s edition, the show will be held annually and 100 percent of the proceeds of the show will go to charity.
Mosimanekgang also said they have met with other stakeholders to help them identify the foundations they will assist.
“We will be dedicating this edition to charities only in Palapye and her surrounding areas, but in future we will broaden our horizons,” he said. Mosimanekgang noted although Majestic Five is a very secure place, security would not be compromised.
“Our tickets are limited and the price itself is inhibiting to those who might have ulterior motives. The Majestic Five itself will be able to house all the patrons in terms of parking and ample space to party, but we have also engaged Security Systems, Scorpion Bouncers, the police force and CID to re- enforce security,” he said.
Tickets to the show sell at P350 each, while a package that consists of a ticket and single room accommodation goes for P1, 100. A double room accommodation package complete with two tickets sells for P1, 700.
