The Luv and Hip-hop concept was established this past Saturday by events company 36 Zero, which has hosted events such as Red Cup Fridays, Turn Up Saturdays and various celebrity parties. The event will mainly feature RnB and Hip Hop artists.

The 36 Zero official, Tshepang ‘DJ Izzy’ Motsitsi, said the concept was based on celebrating love and joining forces with local artistes. “It’s an event centred around ‘luv’ being represented by Rnb, and showing ‘luv’ to hip hop artists who are the leaders of pop culture locally and internationally,” he said.

Motsitsi also said that Luv and Hip- Hop sessions celebrates one artists very week by playing their songs after every 30 minutes. “Every week we celebrate one artist in unique ways, bringing fans of the music together,” he added.

The first Luv and Hip- Hop session started this past Saturday with celebrating international rapper Drake who is famous for popularising the expression YOLO (translated as You Only Live Once). Drake also has hit tracks such as Marvin’s room and Worst behaviour.

“The main difference is that we are an event that celebrates one artist at a time. We wanted revelers to come out during the night when they feel most connected to the artist being celebrated on,” said DJ Izzy. The Luv and Hip-hop sessions will also inculcate other genres such as dance hall and EDM.  DJ Izzy said revelers should also expect electric live performances by different artists. This past Saturday, the show featured the likes of Bernie Brad, DJ Root and DJ Izzy.
