Speaking at a rally on Saturday, which was well attended by the young and old, Jwaneng/Mabutsane MP Shawn Ntlhaile said Lotlamoreng is the only able candidate in the Goodhope/Mabule by-election as he started serving his people at a young age. Goodhope residents and the Montshioa royal family, some of whom from South Africa, came in large numbers to bear testimony to the fact that their chief has joined active politics.

“He is the only credible candidate as compared to others. Today is the day in which we wanted to announce his name to people. This is not his launch yet because that one, it will be done by Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) president Duma Boko and other party leaders during the President holidays,” Ntlhaile said. He asked residents of Goodhope/Mabule to vote for their Kgosi saying he was the only one who understood the constituency problems.

“It will be embarrassing if you can reject your Kgosi. Batawana, Bangwato and other tribes had voted for their Dikgosi to be in Parliament. So it is important that you vote yours because he is the one who understands your cry better,” he said.

When he called Lotlamoreng to the podium, Ntlhaile, started singing ‘Tlotlang Kgosi e Kgolo Banna’, to the excitement of many as they joined in showering praise and support for their Kgosi-turned-politician. Clad in UDC colours, Lotlamoreng said it is now official he would be contesting.  “Ke a itse gore ga labolo go batla go itse boammaruri ja kgang e. Go na le pina e e reng ‘Ke tla roma mang?’ Ka jalo ka re romang nna ke ye go le direla, (I know you long wanted to know about this issue. There is a song that goes: ‘Whom should I send?’ I am saying send me to go work for you),” Lotlamoreng said. He said the reason he chose to join politics was because he felt that his constituency is one of the less developed ones.

Lotlamoreng further said he wanted UDC to retain the area. “I will be doing house-to-house so don’t be surprised since I will be knocking at your doors. My message to you all is, vote wisely and vote for UDC,” he said.
