Edrevo receives Orange unique prize award

The prize sponsored by the Orange Foundation for showcasing her distinct product EDREVO (EducationalRevolution).

EDREVO is an educational board game set to revolutionize the education system and students outlook on studying by making it fun and interactive. The board game is still in development stage, but it promises to change learner’s outlook towards education and studying.

The Unique Prize Award is a component of the  overall sponsorship extended by Orange Foundation to the annual national and Northern Women’s Expositions (Gaborone and Francistown) organised by Gender Affairs Department. Every year, two women are identified by the judges from each Exposition to receive this award. Orange is partnering in the initiative for the second time in a row.

Tshabadira is a former head of department at St Joseph’s College, and  has insight and  first-hand experience on the challenges faced by Botswana students hence the creativity of the product that won her the Unique Prize.

Tshabadira said she had a dream to see a complete change in the landscape of the education system throughout the country, SADC countries and ultimately the whole world. She critically looked into the challenges faced by teachers, parents and the most hard-hit, the learners themselves which ultimately led to the constant decline in the academic performance.

According to Tshabadira, her observation was the rather negative attitude of learners towards the traditional method of learning.  “I came up with a solution and developed an exciting educational board game called EDREVO. It is an innovative way of engaging students in their learning. The teacher becomes a facilitator as students take the responsibility of learning into their own hands and have the opportunity to evaluate their learning,” she says.

Orange PR and Foundation Manager, Boga Chlinde-Masebu, said they were excited to be involved in the developmental stages of the board game. “It is exciting to see the women of Botswana think out of the box and come up with such exciting and revolutionary products. We hope that the money she won will go some way in helping her achieve her dreams of making EDREVO one of the leading educational tools in the country and the region,” she says.

Orange Foundation is looking into ways of providing  additional support to the development of the initiative.
