�He wants me to abort my baby� say estranged woman

The complainant in the matter, Matshediso Matoteng (22), of Palapye alleged that her former boyfriend, Knowledge Vincent (30) of Matshelagabedi village, sent Whatsapp messages to her friends telling them that he was going to hire traditional doctors to kill her baby.

The complainant, who is 16 weeks pregnant with Vincent’s child, also complained that his new girlfriends call to barrage her with insults. The complainant added that the callers advise her to abort the unborn baby, as Vincent will never support the child.

 “I know some of the girls who are calling my phone insulting me and even telling me to abort my child. The other one works at a hair salon at the junction. They insult me and threaten to beat me up. I fear for me and my unborn child’s lives,” said a tearful Matoteng.

One of the messages that the accused sent to Matoteng’s friend through Whatsapp message, and was leaked to the Monitor reads:

 ‘Okae Tshidi? Lets pray ago belegele mosimane therra.

(Where is Tshidi? Please lets pray for her to conceive a boy for you)

 The message was from a certain Mmapula, who is said to be a friend, and also mother to Vincent’s firstborn child.

In response Vincent wrote; ‘Oko gabone, gake bone atla belega sente. Themma dinepe tsa bana pliz.’ (She is at her home. I don’t think she carry the baby full term. Please send the children’s photos).

In the other message, Mmapula wrote;’ Mathata a gagwe ke eng ne bathong? “What is her problem?), to which Vincent responded: Ga ana maitseo – botho (She has no manners).

Mmapula further asked: ‘Ware gaakake a belega sente mathata ke eng?’ (Why are you saying she won’t carry the baby full term) and Vincent replied: Ke batla go mmatela dingaka. Kare gake batle ngwana wa ga Matshediso at all. (I’m going to find a traditional doctor to deal with her. I don’t want Matshediso’s child at all).

Vincent, who is employed as a barman at the Majestic Five Hotel in Palapye, was also alleged to have borrowed money from complainant amounting to P8, 000 in February this year but refused to pay it back.

Vincent admitted that he owed Matoteng and pleaded with Kgosi to free him so that he could go and look for the money and pay it back.

The accused also claimed that Matoteng was violent and habitually assaulted him, but he had never reported her to the police.
