Man charged with threat to kill

The state alleges that on January 25, 2015, Khumo threatened to kill at Serorome ward. The prosecution said that the accused had uttered the following words to the complainant: “Batho bao ke tla ba bolaela mo tlung ke bo ke ipolaya. Fa e le wa mosadi ene ke tla mo rema ka selepe.” (I’m going to kill everyone in the house and proceed to kill myself. As for that woman, I will hack her to death with an axe).

The unemployed Khumo however pleaded not guilty to the charge, and told the magistrate that he would conduct his own defence in the matter.

James Segojane, from the Palapye branch of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) told court that the state intends to call four witnesses to prove its case, adding that investigations into the matter were now complete.

“Investigations in the matter are already complete and the accused is out on bail. I plead with the court to set a case management conference (CMC) date and trial dates,” he said.

Magistrate Motsamai set the date for the CMC to August 20, 2015, adding that the trial dates would be set then. She also ordered the prosecution to serve the accused person with the witnesses’ statements before July 13, 2015.
