The teams were placed in two pools and winners from each group, Wells and Gatalamotho booked a place in the finals. The runners up Police and Panthers then fought for the remaining spot in the last game, with the cops emerging victorious.

On Saturday, Wells begin their quest for the number one position in their bracket when they beat Dinare 3-0. On the same day, Vikings put Wells on a tough test but Wells eventually won by a marginal 9-8 victory. The only team that threatened Wells for the number one spot was Police XI that began their pursuit by crushing Blue Angels 9-1 on Saturday.

Police was in a good mood as they went on to beat Vikings 9-7 and hand them their second loss of the day. On Sunday, Wells wrapped up their qualification in style by thrashing Angels 13-0. In the other bracket, it was still tough to predict the group winners and runners up as it all went down to the last game between BMC and Gatalamotho. After an intense back and forth innings, Gatalamotho won 3-2 and the result meant Gatalamotho had qualified and the awaiting Panthers emerged as runners up.

Only one spot was up for grabs and brackets runners up Police and Panthers had to lock horns to determine the team that goes to Selebi-Phikwe during the President Day holidays.

Prior results were no factor in the game, and Police proved this by winning the first inning. Police proved themselves worthwhile when they won the second inning 4-0. They walked away with the game by registering the same score in the third inning to lead 9-0. Police wrapped up the game by winning the last inning 2-1 and the final score was 11-1.

The three teams join BDF IX, which has already qualified by virtue of being defending champions. Teams from the north, which have qualified are Rail Giants, Carat and Rebels, while Comets are in as hosts. Sixteen teams will compete, eight each from the men and women’s section.  Each winner from both sections will pocket P60 000.
