Yesterday ECCO spokesperson Israel Ontiretse confirmed that the Orapa side has requested to open negotiations with the player with a view to signing him.  “He is still contracted to the club for another season. However, we will not stand in his way if he get a suitable offer,” said. Ontiretse added that Mambo has pledged loyalty to ECCO as long as they delivered on some of his demands.

Despite relegating from the premier league last season, the club spokesperson said they do not anticipate mass exodus of players.

“Only goalkeeper Chamonorwa Madamombe is likely to leave because he is out of contract. Senior players such as Mmilidzi Makafiri are under contract and will report for duty next week,” he said.

Indications are that ECCO are unlikely to retain Madamombe who has been at the club for over five years because of a limited budget. The player is reportedly destined for cross town rivals TAFIC.

Ontiretse further said the club would complete the signing of Tanzanian midfielder, Iddi Banka and South African striker Lovers Mofokeng in the next two weeks.

“We are still working on the finer details of their contracts before a conclusive agreement is reached.” Mofokeng was in the books of FC Satmos last season, where he fared better.

Both players featured in a pre-season tourney against TAFIC over the weekend, a match in which ECCO won 2-1. The Tanzanian turned provider to Mofokeng’s winning goal in the 75th minute of the clash.

Meanwhile, TAFIC coach Atshele Molapi told this publication that he would make three to four signings for the club this coming season. “ My main priority is to bring in two midfielders and a striker. However, I may add a defender who is versatile in order to boost depth,” said Molapi.

Molapi added that their main priority is to win the promotion to the elite league next season.  “If can build on our last season performance I am confident that we can bounce back to the elite league,” he said after watch his side losing to his former club.
