The head of traffic also told The Monitor that this year they have registered four accidents, eight cases of people caught with possession of dagga, five cases of minor incidents.

“We also tested 57 people for alcohol and 31 were caught with content exceeding the legal limit. We also have a lot of people who we caught drinking at prohibited areas,” said Mosimanegape, who added that although the police are flexible during the desert race, patrons should refrain from drinking alcohol at prohibited areas.
