She spent part of her life working in South Africa and was handed a gargantuan task when the Americans asked her to assist expose corruption at FIFA.

At the centre of the investigations was the awarding of the 2018 and 2022 World Cup bids to Russia and Qatar respectively.

“We travelled extensively throughout Africa. The investigations were wide,” she said.

Ndibi went to South Africa to meet some of the implicated officials and most of their meetings were held in the neighbouring country.

She was to later travel to Zimbabwe where she had meetings with the country’s football association chief executive officer, Ndumiso Dabengwa. They also discussed the infamous ‘Asiagate’, which rocked Zimbabwe football following a hastily arranged trip to Asia.

Reports later emerged the trip was sponsored by shady characters with links to illegal betting syndicates. Dozens of top officials and players were implicated.

In Zimbabwe, Ndibi's cover was almost blown.

Ndibi also made a trip to Equatorial Guinea where she met another investigator before flying to Dubai to interview some witnesses.

Her team made regular trips to New York to brief their supervisors on progress.

“We also went to Thailand to meet witnesses and because of the presence of illegal betting syndicates there.”

She interviewed some of the witnesses locally and said she got vital information.
