Sexual healing prophets

 

A Maun woman lost twice to men of the cloth after they first had sex with her claiming to drive away the devils, and then after disappeared with a laptop and smartphone claiming the gadgets  were possessed by thokolosi and needed cleansing.

On Friday the two bogus prophets appeared before Maun magistrate court on Friday as the law caught up with them.

Kabelo Congo (31) who hails from Marobamabe in Bobonong and Tiroyamodimo Lucus (26) of Borobatlou in Sefhare appeared before Chief magistrate Mompati Taolo on two counts for rape and obtaining by false pretences.

The two accused persons on March 12 at Riverside ward allegedly convinced a woman that they were prophets and led her to the side of the river where they claimed they were going to pray. Upon arriving at  a spot near Thamalakane River  they  had sex with her under the pretext that they were driving away the demons that were tormenting her.The incident happened in day light  around 2pm, court heard.The two men then allegedly led the woman to Thito ward where they demanded a Samsung laptop and a cell phone saying they were going to remove a thokolosi from the electronic items and disappeared in to the thin air. They both pleaded not guilty and indicated that they were engaging attorneys. State prosecutor Mosimanegape Lucus had indicated to the court that the two accused persons have no permanent residences in Maun and may therefore disappear if granted bail.

On the other hand he said the state does not oppose bail for the accused persons asking the court the to demand the accused persons to pay P 3000,00 each for bail and provide two sureties.

Taolo however ruled that the two accused persons pay P 500, 00 for bail each and each provide two sureties who will also pay P 500, 00.

He said the fact that the accused persons have no temporary or permanent homes in Maun cannot be used to deny them bail as they are citizens of Botswana. The accused persons will appear on 10 July for case management conference.
