Moswaane wants undeveloped plots repossessed

Moswaane was addressing a kgotla meeting in Monarch last week. He said some people were allocated those commercial plots 20 years ago, but to date they have not developed them even though many youth that have secured money from youth funds do not have places where they can operate their businesses.

He indicated that many businesses belonging to youth have collapsed since all of their profits go to rental expenses while there are unused plots lying around. Moswaane further said that more youth in Monarch should seek financial help from the Ministry of Youth Sports and Culture to start their own businesses with an effort to fight poverty and unemployment.

“There are many Government  programmes that empower the youth economically. However, the youth do not want to take advantage and use them to economically empower themselves,” he said.  

He encouraged them to use programmes such as Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency (CEDA) and Local Enterprise Authority (LEA) to empower themselves more and improve their already existing businesses.

Meanwhile, he encouraged members of the community that acquired money from poverty eradication schemes to open business accounts so that they can be able to secure loans and tenders.

This is because without bank accounts, efforts to secure loans may prove difficult since bank statements and slips are always required, he said.

He also noted that elders who want to start businesses such as basket weaving, clay pottery and others should come forth and utilise the Government money  to set themselves up.

“Elder people that want to start those business are given cash amounting to 250,000, I therefore urge you to utilise those schemes to better your living standards,” he said.

Moswaane also said that he would see to it in parliament that more tenders in the Government sector are given to beneficiaries of Poverty eradications schemes to empower them.
