MAA takes audience on choral voyage

The choral night dubbed Total Musical Immersion Concert featured South African ensemble, African Chamber Orchestra (AFCOC) and Moeding College choir.
While the event started a bit late due to audience trickling in slowly, the performance was beyond reproach.
The stage had a great lighting and the choir was dressed in different costumes that related with their music.
MAA choir took its audience on a fruitful musical voyage that started on a calm note with a couple of hymns such as Ha Ke Le Tje and Oh Happy Day. During the excillirating performance, the choir members would occasionally step aside to give way for solo performances. A set of tenor singers performed couple of Mozart’s songs such as Funicula.
The choir also performed other music genres that included Marabi Christian, Classical, Marabi Folk and Clap N Tap. The peak of the night came when the choir, conducted by Dumi Mmualefe, performed Community folk and Township vibe genres that had songs like Randfontein and Dikeledi, which went down well with the appreciative audience.
While performing Khukhwane medley, a group of Borankana dancers joined the choir on stage raising the tempo of the night; a force that had some members of the audience on their feet dancing the night away. The musical voyage had a strong emotional connection with the audience, which was not shy to express it during the course of the performance, with some seen literally in tears, laughing and shouting with joy. The choir closed with a western classical performance as they fully combined with the orchestra led by Tsietsi Mofokeng. The orchestra also displayed their versatile skills on different pieces as they performed the closing song Cheer Up, Cheer Up.
