Candid Premier League assembly on the cards

The assembly was suspended to allow the BPL board to be briefed on some of the items on the agenda including the audited financial report.
The assembly will also discuss the proposed budget and the motions.
In the last assembly, former chairman Arnold Somolekae and his assistant, Monnakgotla Mojaki threatened to quit following weeks of controversy surrounding the relegation battle.
The last assembly came at a time when there was confusion over the irregularity surrounding the registration of Sankoyo Bush Bucks striker, Morris Rudzivo.
The management committee had taken a decision to dock Sankoyo 29points, which would have seen the Maun side finish bottom of the league and therefore making a quick return to the lower division.
However, the board immediately convened and referred the matter to the Botswana Football Association (BFA) national executive committee (NEC). BFA NEC ordered a replay between Notwane and FC Satmos and the latter prevailed hence retaining their Premier League status.
Township Rollers chairperson, Walter Kgabung has since been appointed interim BPL chairman following Somolekae’s exit. BPL chief executive officer, Bennett Mamelodi said the assembly will tomorrow give direction as to what happens with the chairperson’s position.
He shot down allegations of misappropriation of funds within the Premier League. There were reports that an amount of P2.5 million had not been accounted. “It is not true. Somebody is just peddling lies,” he said.
