Orapa United retains committee

The club held its bi-annual general meeting on Wednesday to vote for new leadership that will lead the club for the next two years. The club’s spokesperson, Tebatso Hule told Mmegi Sport that Thatayaone Sithole has been retained as chairperson.
He said the executive of the Orapa, Damtshaa and Letlhakane Mines (ODLM) chooses someone from the mine to run the club on their behalf.
“Someone who holds this position is chosen by the General Manager of ODLM to run the club on the mine’s behalf and is an uncontestable position,” Hule said. He said that save for the chairman’s position all other positions are up for grabs in the elections and people chosen to fill them are given a two-year mandate. He stated that Kennekae Nkate also retained his position as the club’s vice chairperson while Tlhomamisang Mabe was also voted as the club’s welfare manager. Hule also retained his position as the club’s spokesperson.
He said the committee, which ran the club for the past two years was retained because fans have belief and trust that they managed the club well.
Orapa attained 61 points, seven behind the eventual league champions, Mochudi Centre Chiefs. Hendrick Moyo, who finished second in the goal scorer’s charts, has been drafted into the national team after good showing for Orapa United.
Hule added: “The fans applauded how the club performed since it gained promotion to the Premier League in 2013. They trust that the committee can steer it to new heights and eventually clinch the league.
“Our support base has grown tremendously as can be seen by number of people who come to the stadium when the team is playing hence the trust fans has on this committee.”
