Bondo donated five balls and will give cash prizes of P200 and a floating trophy to each top pupil in Maths and Science every term.

The referee who has made his mark both locally and abroad, would assist more schools in the Central district with Nkange expected to be the next beneficiaries. “I have always wanted to give back to the community I grew up in. I went to school in Senete and I loved football as a young child.   “You can earn a living through sports nowadays. We cannot all be teachers or doctors.  I would love to see another referee, footballer or sportsperson come out of Senete or Nkange,” Bondo said. He urged parents to support their children if they choose sports.

“Parents should not scold their children for choosing sports.

Instead they should support children in whatever career path they chose.”

Bondo grew up in Senete, but it was in Selebi-Phikwe where his dream of becoming a referee of repute was realised.

He has crisscrossed the continent on international assignments with only the Africa Cup of Nations finals to elude him.  He was recently named Mascom Top 8 referee of the tournament.
