Ready to trim: Notwane is expected to lose some of its star players

The former Premier League giants met their demise last week with a loss to FC Satmos in the play-off and will play in the lower division for the first time.  “It is still too early to say. You have to remember this is the first time we find ourselves in this situation.

“We are still in the process of discussing as to what will happen going forward,” club spokesperson, Podi Mooki said yesterday.

The team was under the tutelage of Toba Mothuba who took over from Sheleng Mogorosi towards the end of the season.  He said they will consult the Notwane family and the players first before they could make some of the decisions.  Despite failing to retain their Premier League status, they boast some of the most exciting players in the league who are likely to attract interest from Premier League sides.

Marksman, Zebron Njobvu’s contract is reportedly coming to an end this month. The Zambian forward took the beMOBILE Premier League by storm when he joined Notwane in January this year.

He scored some crucial goals although they were not enough to save his side from the dreaded axe.

They also have the likes of Lemogang Maswena who in the past attracted interest from several big guns as well as Kgaodi Odirile and Amos Godirwang.

“Everything to do with retention of players is still under discussion, but our wish is to keep all the players we have,” Mooki said.  Meanwhile not much has happened in the transfer market since the transfer window opened only last week.  Township Rollers yesterday announced Mark Harrison as their new coach after the departure of Madinda Ndlovu towards the end of last season.  They have been linked with experienced midfielder, Mogogi Gabonamong who parted ways with South African side, Bloemfontein Celtic.

Gaborone United (GU) were this week said to be close to tying captain, Edwin Olerile to a new contract while it was not clear whether they would retain Tebogo Sembowa, Jackie Mothatego and Mandla Mgadla.  Sembowa and Mothatego are linked with a move to champions Mochudi Centre Chiefs. GU recently extended goalkeeper, Goitsone Phoko’s contract after his scintillating performances in the just ended season.  Extension Gunners have reportedly managed to secure the services of two former Letlapeng players, Tshegofatso Chimuku and Mogomotsi Mokoka.
