No one will suspect grandma

One might say with this release she has drawn first blood as she is leading the charge for espionage movie season that promises huge upcoming releases such as Mission Impossible 5, The Man from U.N.C.L.E, James Bond- Spectre coming soon in July, August and November respectively.

With regard to Spy is a 2015 British / American action comedy filled with typical espionage themes you can think of secret agents, high profile gadgets, bombs, diamonds and eminent national disasters. The film’s storyline is structured in this manner, “Susan Cooper, a deskbound CIA analyst, and unsung hero with insights behind the agency’s most dangerous missions, volunteers to go deep undercover to infiltrate the world of a deadly arms dealer, and prevent a global disaster”.

The film also boasts an array of stars in its cast that features amongst others Jason Statham from the recent Fast and Furious 7 Block buster, as well as our movie villain Rose Byrne, who starred in 2014’s hit comedy Bad Neighbours.

Funny enough, this comedy was directed by Paul Feig a director also associated with an amusing habit as he’s renowned for being the only director who puts on a suit whilst doing the sweaty dirty work of directing.

Being the highlight movie release of the weekend, the Spy screening left viewers begging for more, although it’s a two-hour long movie.

To put you up to speed with the crazy fun behaviour of this movie, have you ever been taken to a date at a fancy expensive restaurant then you dig in immediately once the food arrives without wasting time, or asking questions?

Melissa McCarthy’s character Susan Cooper does that when the waiter prepared a nice looking hand towel that resembled a marsh mallow the poor woman was enticed as soon as she saw the towel sponging up after being sprinkled with water. This funny instance introduces us to the movie characters and the comedy aspect.

The amount of action is also on point, with the likes of action figures like Jason Statham it serves adrenalin junkies a good feast as the stunts are also way too good.

Too much fighting going on, which is the main element of an action movie and that in our culture people adore such films, mostly notably it is packed with gun, knife as well as fist fights.

The Game city cinema audience cheered on Susan Cooper the fat looking secret agent as she pulled out some acrobatic moves to defeat a bunch of criminals.

One other scene that thrilled viewers the most, is when Cooper engaged a hot pursuit chase riding on a motorbike taking on a super car to prove herself as a worthy agent.

An espionage film is always made fun by the level of secrecy and mystery element of it; Spy is good because you have dead agents when you think they are dead they emerge as having been undercover. It keeps you on the edge through out.

It is also a bit adventurous at some point because the film takes place various locations such as Paris, Rome, Budapest, which is what we love to see a mixture of various tastes. It is also made more wonderful by the fact that it is sort of a chick flick, though it has the likes of Jason Statham and cameo appearances by 50 Cents it mainly has women calling the shots Rose Byrne (Rayna Boyanov) as the Bulgarian criminal villain at the center of all criminal activity, so it takes a woman (particularly an old looking one) to bring down or senses into a younger one.

The movie thrives on irony as its main catalyst. There is also a lot of explicit language, with Aldo making people laugh with his rude comments and funny gestures towards Susan. Lastly, Spy is also fascinating because it boasts the use of cool gadgets and special features, with Susan Cooper disguising herself as an old lady looking agent, whilst letting her camera contact eye lenses do the spying.

On another note, the film sends out a great message to chubby people to be comfortable with their figures, and also for people to overcome their underdog status, as the film showed us Melissa McCarthy transform into what she aspires to be.

In that respect, Spy was a bit similar to Martin Lawrence’s Big Momma films, but a better film as compared to Melissa McCarthy’s 2014 comedy Tammy role.

Movie quote_The film is film with interesting humour. I am not an idiot you are.

A look at the Spy’s box office reception and cinema performances shows an impressive record. The movie premiered last weekend and immediately smashed the box office chart, ascending to top spot accumulating a stunning global figure of $88 million, this according to box office comes from the US sales of $32 million, as well as making $56 million in international countries, which totally smashed the film’s $65 million dollar budget.
