Since taking charge in February last year, nearly 100 players have been called up for national duty.  However, speaking a day before departure to Uganda this week, Butler said he has finally identified his team.  “I now have a settled team. I know what I want from this team,” Butler told Mmegi Sport. The Zebras do duty against Uganda tomorrow in the opening Group of 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.  Butler is under pressure to impress after a below par performance at the COSAFA Senior Challenge where the Zebras only managed one victory.

The Zebras are in what appears a manageable, but tricky group that also includes 2013 runners-up Burkina Faso.

Before departure, Butler told journalists he knows Uganda very well, describing them as a physical side. If Butler and his players hope for improved attendances in the next home game, a positive start to the qualifiers is a must.

Butler has been set a target to qualify for the 2017 showpiece after missing out on Gabon early this year.

The Zebras contain a mix of youth and experience although midfield grafter, Mogogi Gabonamong is missing. Butler said the player had not turned up for camp.

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder, Mogakolodi ‘Tsotso’ Ngele however, returns after missing the COSAFA Cup.

But it might be the sprightly Gaborone United midfielder, Mpho Kgaswane who will be the focal point after impressive displays in national colours recently.

Captain, Joel Mogorosi told Mmegi Sport they had settled well in Kampala and are looking forward to tomorrow’s game.

The game will be played tomorrow at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Kampala. Kick-off is 4pm.
