Seeing red: Zulusays Mothuba's dismissal triggered a collapse

Satmos took full advantage and stormed back to score three goals in normal time before eventually emerging 6-4 victors.    Notwane are being relegated for the first time in the Premier League history. Zulu said his team played according to the script and were controlling the tempo until Mothuba’s red card and poor defending, which he said gave their opponents a lifeline, and ruined their plan.

“We cannot delve much into this game. We came out with a good game plan and we executed it well until we got a red card.

“Satmos took advantage and pressed high forward. Our midfield going forward was brilliant. We combined well, but our defence did not turn up when it mattered most.  “But overall we did our best.” Zulu added their worst nightmare has been their overall internal situation. He said this season was one to forget and the writing was on the wall.  “The thing is we should not have been fighting this battle in the first place. We had two brief exceptional spells during the second round of the league that saw momentum building, but only to be ruined by player boycotts due to unpaid salaries.

“These are results of those moments,” Zulu said. “Our biggest problem is finance. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise so that we can go and recoup.  “Our management needs to stand up and work because the first thing is, we should find a way of keeping our players and you cannot keep them if you fail to pay them.   “This is the time to go and prepare ourselves, and preparation starts now,” he added.  Notwane had an on-and-off run for most of the season, but were sitting comfortably on the log until the last nine games when the plates shifted violently.  They slipped into the drop zone managing only one win and two draws as they withered on the vine, conceding 19 goals in the process.
