BFA yet to meet over Notwane court route

Notwane dragged the BFA to court in a bid to suspend yesterday afternoon’s play-off against Satmos. However, the High Court dismissed the application with costs.  BFA president, Tebogo Sebego told Mmegi Sport yesterday that they were still focusing on the play-off match and would attend to Notwane’s court issue at a later stage.

“The executive committee is yet to meet and discuss this issue,” he said.  Sebego said he could not dwell much on the matter as the executive committee would deal with everything.

“If I speak about this, it would be a matter of opinion and I cannot do that because I haven not met with the members to map the way forward,” he said. Sebego said the members of the BFA committee meet once per month and they were currently scattered across the country in different regions. He however indicated that the BFA and FIFA have rules and regulations therefore if any affiliate breaches those, the matter would be resolved without hesitation. “Obviously something is going to be done about this. We will communicate after the play-off match,” he said.

After the High Court dismissed Notwane’s application, the club is expected to face further censure from the BFA as football matters are not supposed to be taken to a court of law. 

BDF XI were last season docked six points and fined P10,000 after seeking legal redress in the courts. The development cost them the league title.  The regulation states that any affiliate of the BFA which refers a dispute concerning the game of football to the courts of law, ignores orders and decisions of the Disciplinary Committee and/or the National Appeals Board or persistently repeats acts which it has been previously punished for, shall be guilty of misbehaviour and liable to a fine of not more than P10,000 and a docking of points.

Furthermore, the club may be liable to a suspension from the BFA for a period of not more than 12 (twelve) months.
