Waiting game: TASC hope Satmos retains Premier League status

Satmos and Notwane are expected to face each other in Serowe in a winner-takes-all clash. The winner is guaranteed Premier League stay, while the loser relegates.

The ‘Tango Boys’ as TASC are widely known, were relegated from the First Division North after finishing 11th in the 12-team league.  But if Satmos win today, TASC would be thrown a temporary reprieve.

A Satmos win would mean one space would be vacant in the First Division North. The development will then mean TASC have to play Maun Terrors who finished third during the Division One play-offs to decide who takes the First Division slot.

First Division North spokesperson, Rapula Gaotlhobogwe confirmed that TASC would play Maun Terrors should Satmos win against Notwane. Gaotlhobogwe said the match would be played at a neutral venue.

This is not the first time TASC get a reprieve.

Green Lovers’ promotion to the Premier League gave them the initial lifeline, as they remained in contention for a promotion play-off.

Lovers’ win two weeks ago also saved another Francistown side, Great North Tigers (GNT) from possible relegation.

Had Lovers failed in their promotion bid, it would have meant GNT relegate to accommodate Satmos, in case the Selebi-Phikwe side is unsuccessful in its bid to retain Premier League status. So far another Francistown side, Amakhosi have been relegated from the Debswana-backed league while Lovers and Miscellaneous have won promotion to the elite league.
