BCA targets Selebi-Phikwe teachers

The training course is meant to upskill primary school teachers on the rules of the game and particularly improve their officiating knowledge.  The teachers are mostly used to officiate in age group tournaments as well as Botswana Primary Schools Sports Association (BOPSA) games. Cricket development coach, Innocent Chando will conduct the training.

He said there is need to train the teachers in order to improve their knowledge of the game. “The main aim of the training course is to help coaches improve their knowledge of officiating cricket games.  The training is mainly on umpiring and scoring,” he said.

The training course will be the second this year after an orientation course conducted in April. The BCA initiated training courses in order to help teachers interested in coaching cricket to have knowledge on the sport. The training course will have representatives from 11 primary schools in Selebi-Phikwe and surrounding areas.  Two teachers will represent each school.
