Miller encouraged the John Mackenzie School (JMS) students who are all in high school to continue working hard in order to reach their aspirations.

The students Leah Pretorious, Tjanana Deurwaarder, Emmanuel Ramogaladi, and Leone Michael took part in the trip, which was sponsored by the US embassy.

Miller encouraged the students to maintain their good performance in order to be able to qualify for the US sponsorship.

He added that he would appreciate it if they keep him updated on their studies.

“Studying in the US is an advantage, especially to students from Botswana because it gives them exposure and a certificate that is recognised worldwide,” he pointed out.

He explained that the trip was a great opportunity for students to learn about various cultures and gave them the platform to demonstrate their abilities and achievements, which could help them to choose their career path.  Miller said the mandate of the programme is to select excelling students from Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and South Africa to demonstrate their academics and extra-curricular activities in community work. The JMS headmaster, Moosa Lambat, thanked the embassy for having sponsored the students. He said the programme helps them reach their full potential. One of the students, Michael said she enjoyed the whole experience as she got to learn a lot about various cultures and even made new friends.

“The whole trip gave me an idea of what I want to study and the university I want to go to,” she said. The four students pledged to continue working very hard to reach their fullest potential and vowed to serve the community.
