Police nab alleged serial student rapist

Thatayaone Wabuya Nka of Sebina village is facing three counts of rape. In the first count, the state alleges that he raped a senior secondary school student in the thickets at Gerald Estate Farms on February 11. In the second count, Nka, whom police have dubbed ‘Forest Evil’ because he allegedly commits all his offence in the bush, allegedly raped another senior secondary school student at Gerald Estate Farms on February 25. In the last count, the state alleges that Nka raped another student at Japane near Borolong settlement on March 3.

Prosecutor Mothusi Meshack told the court that the state is about to finish its investigations.

“The investigating officer is to take some exhibits to the laboratory for forensic analysis. I make an application to be given more time to complete our investigations,” said Meshack.

An unremorseful looking Nka told Basupi that he had nothing to say concerning the state application. The suspect is on bail and is due in court on July 6 for a status report.

Police believe the rapist lures his victims by giving them a ride in his car before attacking them. He is alleged to waylay students in the early hours of the morning as they walk to school.
