DJ Sbu, who is also a businessman, told Showtime at the DStv delicious international food and music festival in Johannesburg over the weekend that he would also be coming to conduct workshops around the country to impart some of his knowledge to aspiring Batswana entrepreneurs.

“It was inevitable that we launch the drink in Botswana after South Africa, Botswana is my second home and the love I get there is overwhelming,” he said.

The popular DJ has was recently fired by the SABC as a Metro FM host, after he promoted his energy drink during the live broadcast of Metro FM Music Awards without authorisation.

But before the dust could settle, DJ Sbu was then accused of creating and posting online a fake cover of the Forbes Magazine with his image, a charged he denied.

Another scandal erupted just weeks later when he was accused of claiming that the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) had certified his drink.

The production of Mofaya was then suspended until the matter was resolved with SABS.

DJ Sbu told Showtime that he was surprised at the way his life has suddenly come under scrutinisation.

“Is it because a black man like me is in business for a product worth billions?” he wondered.

“Just because I thought of an idea that is worth billions all of a sudden I am the enemy. Africans spend billions per year buying energy drinks but not a single one of them is owned by a black man. I just wanted to be that guy,” he said. He also avoided questions relating to his alleged relationship with Zahara saying he is honoured to have worked with the talented musician.

“She is an amazing being and to have been a part of the force that brought her to the world is amazing and truly an honour,” he said.
