“Our party wants a credible candidate for the area.

The names of those who are already leading are Eric Molale, Fankie Motsaathebe, Kopo Mononi, Mantsa Sekgororoane and Tuta Orapeleng,” a source said.

“The committee wants those who are interested in the post to reach a compromise. “The source revealed that the BDP wants to do anything in their power to win back their historical constituency.

He said the BDP lost the constituency to Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) because of their in fighting.

“The branch committee wants the democrats to agree on one name so that we do not go for primary elections. We had realised that primary elections do divide us or cause fights that are not necessary,” he said.

He said their party has a fear that there is the possibility that they might not win the constituency if they have some internal issues.

He said they want to put more resources in the campaign. The BDP will over the weekend hold their southern region elections. The party’s regional secretary Motsaathebe confirmed that the regional elections would be held in Jwaneng.

“Elections will be held on Saturday at the community hall. The region will have time to deliberate issues and of course we will talk on how we are going to assist at the by-election,” Motsaathebe said.

On Monday, the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) youth league president Phenyo Segokgo said they will be forced to convince their parties to hold their congresses in Goodhope.

“It is very important that Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) and Botswana National Front (BNF) hold their party activities in that area. We have to be visible as much as possible and do house to house campaigns,” Segokgo said.
