In the past, proposing to a woman was done face-to-face, but modern technology has stolen the oomph from the first meetings as it makes it easier for people to meet and propose digitally. The track Mukele, sang in Yoruba and English, was officially released on social networks last week. It has a trademark Nigerian flow and sound. The track was produced by European-based S’Bling at a local studio, Beatslayer Records.

Naijaboy described his new single as a story of a man formally proposing and declaring his undying love for a woman.

The Afro-pop love song, which is well mastered, has a laid back sound that makes it a suitable choice for various romantic occasions such as weddings, honeymoons and dates.

Soulful songstress Amantle outdid herself, performing the track in Yoruba, a native Nigerian language that she is not familiar with.

In the song she acts as the woman being “charmed” by a gentleman and she duly accepts the proposal.

“Working on the track was a bit of a challenge, but it was nice because it was a new experience,” Amantle told Showbiz.

Amantle wrote her lyrics in English and Naijaboy assisted her with translation and pronounciation.

Not one to shy away from trying new things, on her recent tour of Zimbabwe, the talented singer performed a call against Xenophobia themed track in Shona.

She says she would like to do more collaborations with international artistes to build her profile. Mukele is Naijaboy’s second offering from his upcoming album. His first release was Anaconda, which he released early this year. The Lagos-born  man says for local musicians to reach international status like his countrymen Davido, Prince and Tiwa Savage they need to stick to their original sound.

“As musicians, you should stay original to your roots, which means that your audience will relate with you and the international market will find your sound exotic and nice.”
