“We believe education is the key to our economy so by rewarding the children, we are empowering them with knowledge. Our aims are to capacitate the learners as these also help us play a meaningful role in the education of our children. Education plays a pivotal role in the country, so as a trade union that places itself among those striving to transform the power of Botswana, we urge business entity to get into smart partnership to develop the country,” Motsamai said.

When receiving the awards, Lotsane School head Tshokologo DIneo, expressed deepest appreciation for the massive support that BOPEU is giving his school. He said that the gathering was not only to celebrate the students who excelled but to also celebrate the historic come back of Lotsane into top 10 after a decade of failing to do so. He said the last time the school featured among the best top 10 in the country was in 2005 where it was ranked position 8 with 43.08 percent.

Dineo also thanked other stakeholders; MVA, DEBSWANA, Majoka Hardware and  the PTA. He said rewarding the students and teachers for work well done was a form of motivation to them.

He further said that the improvement in the performance of the school was not only noticeable in students, but also in teachers. He said that in 2013, the number of teachers who produced 100 percent credit passes was only  six  but in 2014 the number increased to 12.
