The BDP last week retrenched four of its top management -  executive secretary Sechele Sechele, his deputy Lee Lesetedi, political officer Martha Keboletse and accounting officer Osenotse Malela.

One of the fired employee told Mmegi that they had long known their fate before the central committee met on Monday.

“Some of the party leadership has been accusing us of factions within the party.   In one of the meetings that we once held, we requested the party leadership to bring evidence that we were favouring other people in the party.  “We had a fall out with the party leadership since the primary elections,” said the retrenched manager.

The employee said they had been sidelined as top management in some of the things, which were done without their involvement.  “The recent party leadership forum was organised mainly by communication committee members.

“Normally during party events, the party officers are the ones who register delegates but at this forum the situation was different.”

The employee said some people who are supporting one of the candidates were the ones who were in control of the party office.

Another employee said something was fishy about the way their contracts were terminated. “We are left with only a month to go for party congress. The office was already registering delegates for the congress.

“Usually the electoral board works hand in hand with political officer to prepare for congress voters’ roll,” he said. Meanwhile, an employee who preferred anonymity because he was not authorised to  speak to the press party said the top management got sacked because they were failing to control their junior employees. “Expenses of Tsholetsa House have been high lately and there had been no proper accounting.
