Shahnaz to Open Spa at Majestic Five Hotel

Shahnaz has been operating only in Botswana’s capital city where they have two saloons and a beauty academy. The saloons also feature spas but Palapye will only feature a herbal spa.

The Palapye shop will be a partnership between the Shahnaz owners in Gaborone and Sonja Puskas the daughter of the owners of the Majestic Five lodge.

The herbal Spa will offer a wide range of services from therapeutic massages, luxurious facials and sumptuous body treatments.

Shahnaz is known for their products, which include natural herbal ancient remedies among others.

According to Puskas after completing her studies abroad she always had an idea of opening a herbal spa in the country.

Being the daughter of the owner of Majestic Five Hotel, she said she had an opportunity to carry a survey at the hotel and that helped her identify market potential in the Palapye area for a beauty spa business before she approached Shahnaz owners in Gaborone for a partnership.

“ I went to Cape Town at the International Academy of Health and Care where I studied Sonotology for three years.

“And after completing my studies I came back home and that is when I started working on my idea of opening a spa. My family and friends were also very supportive of my business idea.

“I ran the survey mostly from hotel guests and the feedback I got told me that there was a market for a spa business here,” said an optimistic Puskas.

She said thereafter she met with the owner of Shahnaz, who embraced the idea of a partnership. During the meeting, Puskas said she learnt that Shahnaz already had clients in Palapye who would travel all the way to Gaborone for their services.

“Shahnaz caters for everybody. They are able to deal with all kinds of skins. They are a well-known brand and that convinced me to do business with them.

“When we met with Shahnaz owners they already had plans to open a business in Palapye, so it was not difficult to convince them.

“Apart from Shahnaz clients who are already here, we are also looking at attracting the general community of Palapye, the Majestic Five clients and travellers or tourists’ en-route to their destinations passing through Palapye,” she said.

Puskas further added that the Herbal Spa operates in a 100 square metre area inside the hotel, with four treatment rooms, one of them being a couple’s room, manicure and pedicure station, relaxation area, shower, reception and a kitchen.

“Our space is enough to accommodate seven guests at the same time. In the Spa we have employed four therapists, who are all grounded in the Spa and its related field, which is vital. We also have a manager and a receptionist as well as a cleaner. We currently have a total of seven employees in the spa,” she added.
