She claims the marriage was arranged  in the backdrop of  a turbulent time at Culture Spears, a time that needed her    to fight the emerging dominance of one family in the group; but that fire was doused when she became a wife who was culturally expected to be submissive to her husband and in-laws. She regrets it.

Charma gal  says   the marriage to  Culture Spears frontman Kabelo Mogwe had been preceded by  a break up for three years, as well as bitter feud over business directions during the heydays of the hit album, Kulenyane, as Mogwe’s family members pushed the founding members into the periphery.

Charma-gal says  that contrary to denials in the past, she and husband Kabelo Mogwe, both lead-singers in the band, have been separated over a year ago, as they wait for their divorce to be finalised.

She blames Kabelo also for his escapades with his  female  dancers, and claims she was referred to as  mosadi-mogolo,”The Lerala born performer   says the marriage to her  Culture Spears colleague in 2011 came out of nowhere during a period in which she had  romantically separated from the then boyfriend for three years.

Years leading to their marriage, Charma-gal  says her would- be husband had been on a deliberate move to turn the highly successful band into a family affair; a Mogwe family affair;  as early as 2007,  when the band hits the high notes with their hit-song, Kulenyane.
