According to Tshepho Jim, a representative from Babereki Insurance Brokers, they want to reach their members who reside far from Gaborone to assist them with the services they provide and also to recruit new members .

“We are in Ghanzi to promote the services that are provided or offered by BOPEU members by Babereki Investment which include among others funeral cover, micro loan scheme,” said Jim. The funeral scheme covers the member, children up to 21 years, parents of the member and extended family. The scheme is underwritten by Hollard Insurance. BOPEU members will also enjoy loans scheme under Babereki Investment who have negotiated with BancABC for its members.  Members will be able to secure loans such as personal loan. “They will also get motor vehicle loans and housing loans,” said Jim.

The limit for the personal loan is P500 000,  motor vehicle P1, 00.0 000 000 while for the housing loan a member qualifies for P3, 000.000 000.

He added that they will guard against members who might want to borrow more than they could afford to pay, which he said could lead to serious financial constraints on the member. He further said at Babereki Investments, they encourage members to have a shelter over their  heads and implored them to use the services offered to them.

Some public officers here applauded BOPEU and said this will help them to reduce the cost of travelling to Gaborone for these services.
