Kgomela said the players trained yesterday without any hitches.  “The players were training this morning (yesterday) and will train again later today (yesterday). They will break later in the evening to give the women’s team time to conduct its training,” Kgomela confirmed when Mmegi Sport contacted him.

The Young Zebras have to put behind the week’s upheavals in order to get a positive result against what should be a formidable Zambian side.

Botswana scrapped through an away goal rule after letting Kenya win 4-1 in the second leg of the first round. The Under-23 side had beaten Kenya 3-0 at home.  Their task has been made more difficult by the absence of five key players; Mpho Kgaswane, Omaatla Kebatho, Mosha Gaolaolwe, Tapiwa Gadibolae and Kabelo Seakanyeng, who are away with senior team in South Africa for the COSAFA Cup.

The five torched the storm, which eventually claimed Paul’s head.  Kgomela said despite the storm, he expects a positive result tonight.

Gaborone United goalkeeper, Goitseone Phoko, BMC striker, Unobatsha Mbaiwa and quick silver Nico United striker, Onkabetse Makgantai are expected to lead the host’s charge.

Meanwhile, the Zambian team arrived on Wednesday and trained at the National Stadium yesterday. “Zambia arrived yesterday at around 9.30pm and they will be conducting their training at the national stadium,” said Kgomela.

The junior Zebras are preparing for a crucial Olympic Games qualifier against Zambia at the New Lobatse Stadium tonight.

Paul was dismissed on Wednesday after televised comments criticising the selection of the team. Davis Kopi, who is expected to be on the touchline for the home side, has taken his place.
