Two bodies burnt beyond recognition in a car accident

Kutlwano police traffic officer Superintendent Alison Mbaiwa said two cars, an Audi and Mazda Bongo (Combi), caught fire after colliding next to the Sebina junction.

He said that the two cars collided after the Mazda driver lost control of the vehicle and veered into the path of the oncoming Audi. Mbaiwa said that the driver of the Audi motor vehicle was a man aged 47 years old accompanied by his 12-year-old son who fortunately survived the tragic accident with only minor injuries. “The boy was fortunate enough to have survived this horrible accident, and he has been admitted to Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital for medical attention.

The other deceased who was driving the Mazda Bongo is said to be an 18-year-old student at Mater Spei Senior Secondary School.

According to Mbaiwa, the driver of the Mazda was driving his parents’ car without a licence and investigations are ongoing to find out how the student managed to do so. Mbaiwa warned unqualified motorists who drive without licences about the dangers they posed on the national roads. “And it is quite sad that responsible people who have licences are often killed by reckless drivers without licences,” he said.

He also appealed to parents to stop permitting their under-aged children and those that do not have licences to drive their cars. Meanwhile, Francistown Central police station is investigating a case in which the notorious Francistown Club Area L was robbed of cash amounting to P90,000 recently. According to the Francistown Central police commander, Superintendent Lekang Maniki an explosive device appeared to have been used to force open the club’s entrance. Maniki added that investigations are ongoing and there are no suspects as yet.
