Returning Miscellaneous decry lack of sponsorship

Club chairman, Seiphetho Sefhako told Mmegi Sport that the club is going into the next season without a sponsor due to the lack of financiers in its hometown.
“We have not found a sponsor yet and we are still looking for one. The economy of Serowe is very low as it is not yet a town and this impinges upon our success.
“There are no big businesses in the village, but only small enterprises which cannot sponsor a premier league team.
“The only big company is Foods Botswana and they are unable to sponsor us because they have their own team. This is what kills us,” he complained. Another potential sponsor, Morupule Coal Mine, is also out of the question as it is part of the Debswana stable, which sponsors codes, rather than individual teams.
“We hope to have a sponsor by the time the league kicks off,” he said.
“We will make sure that we find one because the issue of sponsorship affected us badly during our last season in the Premier League.
“We were unable to recruit players that could meet the premier league’s required standard, but other teams could recruit from us because they had sponsors to provide enough funds.”
The “Tse Nala” chair said the team lost crucial players like Segolame Boy, who is now doing wonders at Township Rollers, Ontiretse Gaotlhobogwe who is currently playing for BDF XI and central defender Kagiso Molati who now plays for Jwaneng Galaxy FC.
“While most of the country’s leaders including the president of Botswana come from Serowe, we do not receive any exclusive help.
We are assisted just like any other team in the country and we cannot complain because those people are the leaders of the country and they cannot help Serowe people only,” he said.
Sefhako urged the community of Serowe to stand up for their team, saying it represents the village and surrounding areas.
Sefhako said he expects the team to perform better this time around in the premier league as they now have their own stadium, which will give them home ground advantage.
“In the past four seasons we played all over the country. We had no home ground advantage because there was no stadium in Serowe. We sometimes used Orapa Stadium as our home ground, but it was too far for our supporters and this contributed to our relegation,” Sefhako said.
