The Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) head of sponsorships and public relations, Tiro Kganela said beMOBILE celebrates yet another milestone in local football.  “We believe that our football has improved this season and as the heart of football in Botswana, we are happy about this achievement,” he said.

Kganela told Mmegi Sport they feel the season was a success despite the increasing number of club protests that were brought before the BPL Disciplinary Committee (DC).

“As the sponsor, we have a great relationship with our partners (BPL), therefore we believe that they will solve matters at hand,” he said.

Kganela said the matters are not in any way tarnishing their brand.

In addition, he said they were currently engaged in the ‘be PLAYER’ campaign where fans get an opportunity to vote for their player of the season.

“We believe in a democratic process. Next season, we will hype-up this concept because fans are very important in the growth of our football,” he said.  Kganela said the campaign would excite fans and everything would be done to improve the local football.

Kganela said even they could not back up their claim with statistics, they believe more and more people especially women were gracing stadia to support the local football.

He said they look ahead to another successful season.

beMOBILE has been endorsing the top flight since 2008 and renewed their contract with the BPL for a further three years before the start of the season.

The three year partnership is worth P30million.  BPL chief executive officer, Bennett Mamelodi has also expressed satisfaction with the season.

“Despite pending cases, I am satisfied with the season. We should be able to present a final log by the end of the week,” Mamelodi told the league’s website.
