The talented Tshireletso entered Saturday’s final clash of the season against Police XI tied with Moyo on 14 goals. But after 20 minutes, he had decided the contest with the game’s opening goal.

The attacker started the season on an impressive scoring streak, but he suffered a goal drought along the way that gave other players a sniff. But he managed to get the crucial goal on Saturday, which guarantees him the green boot award.

Tshireletso told Mmegi Sport he is elated after a huge improvement from last season.

“It is the first time; I have never scored 15 goals before. In the past seasons, I managed a maximum of 12 goals but this season was different,” he said.  Tshireletso, nicknamed ‘FC’ said he deserves the credit after what has been a tough season.  He said even though he suffered injuries along the way, he was happy to have triumphed in the end.

“I missed some games due to injury. At some point I had a goal drought, but I was never worried. I knew that it would only be a matter of time before I got back to scoring,” he said.  After an astonishing beMOBILE Premier league season, the top goal scorer was quick to appreciate the contribution of those around him. “My teammates and the coach, in fact everyone, was supportive and in the end we won the league as a collective.”  He said he would now focus on improving his goal-scoring rate so that he could be ready to impress again next season.

Tshireletso is the third local player to win the green boot in the past four seasons. Mara Moloi and Joel Mogorosi jointly won the award in the 2011/2012 seasons. Tendai Ndoro won it in the 2012/13 season while Patrick Kaunda scooped it last season.
