In an interview with Monitor Business, Blue Card Production Manager Nkosi said that they started their company Blue Card to help companies with branding.

Nkosi noted that they decided to come up with this company after realising that marketing plays a pivotal role in business these days and branding is required to excel in that endeavour.

“We also realised that many local companies still go outside the country to brand their products, and decided to open a company that will do that locally,” said Nkosi

Blue Card currently sells plain and branded t-shirts, caps, beanies, and tracksuits. They also do the branding for many companies with Debswana being one of their biggest clients so far.

“The branded t-shirt price depends on the style and tailor mark which normally ranges from P150 to P250 each. Flat caps go for P180 each,” Nkosi noted.

According to Nkosi, they will be introducing winter wear, which is still in production. They also manufactured some merchandise for the famous Palapye ‘clap your hands’ show as well as the ongoing campaign for ‘Miss Africa’ pageant.

Blue Card have produced the now dominant ‘bucket hats’, which have been trending.

As part of their marketing strategy, recently four local artists who are sponsored by Blue Card released a single ‘Garemaroko’ promoting their label. The motswako single, features MMP family, Amanandos as well as the upcoming artist Dlala. “This single promotes our clothing label as we currently sponsor MMP family, Noello, Amanandos as well as Dlala and some upcoming artist with some clothing as appearance is important in every performer,” said Nkosi.

He added that they also customise clothing for artists, highlighting that the MMP family and Noello brands have been doing quite well in the market. Blue Card currently has a shop at Game city mall as well as a stall in the main Gaborone mall.
