The guest list included the likes of former Generations actor, Thato Molamu (Nicholas Nomvete), Bongo Muffin star Stoan, DJ Guru and Metro FM’s Mo Flava. Motswako Fest will be held in Mafikeng on May 30.

The event, which was scheduled to start at 2100hrs started two hours late.

DJs started playing music to an empty dance floor. When the Motswako Fest entourage arrived they were surprised to see an empty club, but that did not dampen their mood as they danced to the music with Stoan leading the pack.

Revellers started packing the place slowly as disc jockey Bernie Brad played laid-back songs, which kept the mood alive.

The situation, however, changed by midnight and Dros Upper level was a full house. The VIP section of the club was packed and the crowd started mingling with the South African entourage with some taking pictures with Stoan and Thato Molamu.

The South African celebrities, who were relating well with their fans, were not shy to go and dance with revellers-including those who did not have access to the VIP section.

When DJ Izzy took over the decks, he cheered up the mood more with his urban flavored mixes, which comprised Hip-hop, New-age Kwaito and local Motswako.

Night crawlers with red cups sang along and danced to DJ Izzy’s mixes, as they did different dance moves including the Nay Nay.

Other DJs who graced the night included DJ Root and Ricky Lamar.

Speaking to Showtime DJ Izzy, who is the organiser of the Red Cup Fridays, mentioned that the weekly event would keep on bringing a number of surprises such as guest appearances, and special performances.

“I am also working on a theme song for the Red Cup Fridays which is almost done,” said the Nijel Amos hit maker.
