Speaking at the party women’s wing congress over the weekend after her bid for re-election foundered, she said one of the reasons why her committee failed was lack of funds. “Mostly we were depending on our mother body or using our own money,” she said.

She requested the newly elected committee to work hard and mobilise more women to join the party. Dingake lost elections to Daisy Bathusi at the BCP women congress in Mahalapye. “I hope the new committee will tour the country and revive women structures. It is important that they focus on their mandate,” she said.

She encouraged women to be united all the time.

“Party elections should not divide us. Rather it should make us stronger than ever. Our main aim is to help the party to win elections,” she said.

Meanwhile the new BCP women president, Bathusi said unity in the party is very important. “Our committee is going to work hand in hand with the old committee because we need their guidance. We are not enemies and will never be,” she said.

She promised that her committee would tour the country in order to know the challenges women are facing. She said the party cannot do well if its structures have collapsed. “We need to revive those structures. Again we have to do fundraising so that we don’t depend too much on the mother body,” she said. She stated that the BCP women’s wing should be friends with other political bodies for women outside Botswana so that they can learn new things.

She said her committee would be at the forefront on women issues. “I believe that we are representing women and therefore, we should speak strongly on issues that affect them most,” she said.
